Why Digital Ballasts Outperform Magnetic
Digital ballasts operate at a high frequency (typically 40–60 kHz), which eliminates the annoying hum of magnetic ballasts and reduces flickering that can stress plants. They run considerably cooler, making them safer and easier to position in enclosed grow spaces. Most digital ballasts are 5–10% more efficient than equivalent magnetic models, meaning more light output from the same energy consumption.
Extended bulb life is another key benefit. Digital ballasts deliver a consistent current without the initial surge that shortens bulb life in magnetic systems. You can expect to extend bulb replacement intervals significantly with a quality digital ballast — saving money over the life of your setup.
Dimmable Ballasts for Flexible Growing
Most digital ballasts in our range offer multiple output settings — typically 250W, 400W, 600W and 750W. This allows you to dial back power during propagation and early vegetative growth, then increase gradually as plants mature. Some models include a Super Lumen mode that pushes a 600W bulb to 660W during peak flowering for a final yield boost. Select ballasts also feature soft-start technology, gently ramping up output to maximise bulb longevity.
