Description

Dripper Line 4mm is a flexible micro-irrigation tube sold per metre that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for connecting drip stakes, watering rings and emitters to irrigation manifolds in automated growing systems. The 4mm internal diameter is the industry standard for micro-drip irrigation applications — compatible with all standard drip stakes, Plant!T watering rings and adjustable drippers — and provides sufficient flow capacity for individual plant delivery from a central distribution manifold without the pressure restrictions associated with smaller bore tubing.

Building a Custom Drip Irrigation System with 4mm Line

In a typical automated drip system, a submersible pump feeds nutrient solution through a 20–25mm main distribution line to a central manifold, from which individual 4mm dripper lines branch off to each plant. The 4mm line’s flexibility allows it to be routed around pot edges, along tent poles and over container rims without kinking — essential in the confined space of a grow tent where rigid pipe runs would be impractical. The tubing is compatible with standard barbed 4mm fittings that insert into the main line using a hole punch tool, creating a leak-free branch connection at any point along the main run. Sold per metre, you can purchase exactly the length needed for your system layout — typically 0.5–1m per plant in a standard drip system — without excess waste.

Installation, Compatible Accessories and System Design Tips

Use a 4mm hole punch to create insertion points in the main 20mm line at each plant position. Insert 4mm barbed T-pieces or straight barbed connectors and push the 4mm line firmly onto the barb for a secure, leak-free connection. Route lines to each plant pot and fit with an adjustable dripper stake or Plant!T watering ring for the delivery point. For uniform flow distribution across all drippers, keep individual 4mm line runs to similar lengths from the manifold. Pair with a submersible pump, digital timer and 25mm distribution manifold for a complete automated irrigation system.
