The drying phase after harvest is one of the most important factors determining the final quality, aroma and character of dried plant material. Too fast a dry — at high temperature or in a very dry environment — degrades the terpene and essential oil profile dramatically, producing a harsh, flat end product regardless of how well the growing cycle was managed. A slow, controlled dry at 15–20°C and 45–55% relative humidity preserves the volatile aromatic compounds responsible for aroma and flavour, producing a superior final product that reflects the full quality of what was grown.

Maintain 15–20°C and 45–55% RH in the drying space throughout the drying period using a thermometer, hygrometer and appropriate environmental controls.
