GRODAN STRIP OF 6 X 4″ CUBES (SMALL HOLE 25MM) is the connected strip format of Grodan’s 4-inch transplant blocks, providing six cubes joined in a uniform strip for organised batch handling of larger propagation and transplant stages. How the 4″ Cube Strip Format Supports Efficient Growing

The 6-cube strip keeps 4-inch blocks aligned and undamaged during storage, transport, and preparation — particularly important for larger blocks whose greater volume makes them more susceptible to compression or structural damage if stored loosely. During the propagation phase, the strip format allows an entire row of six growing positions to be prepared, soaked, and managed as a single unit, simplifying watering and environmental management across a propagation bench. Once rooted, individual cubes separate cleanly at the score lines between cubes, leaving each block intact with its root system undisturbed for transplanting. The 4-inch size accepts the standard Grodan 3-inch starter cube directly in its 25mm insert hole, making it the natural next-stage block after initial rooting.

Preparation and Transplanting Protocol

Soak the 4-inch strip in pH 5.5 solution at EC 1.0 for one hour before use. Drain until no water runs freely from the base. Drop rooted 3-inch starter cubes into the 4-inch insert hole, ensuring the smaller cube sits fully home against the base of the insert. Begin feeding at your standard early-vegetative nutrient rate immediately. When roots are clearly emerging from the base of the 4-inch block — typically five to ten days after transplant — separate individual blocks from the strip and move to final growing positions in your DWC net pots, NFT channels, or grow slabs.
