Why the 70/30 Mix Outperforms Pure Coco

Pure coco coir, while an excellent growing medium, can hold slightly more moisture than is ideal for high-feed, high-drain growing approaches where frequent watering cycles are used to deliver maximum oxygen to the root zone between irrigations. Adding 30% perlite — the light, volcanic glass aggregate — opens up the structure of the coco, creating additional macro-pores that drain rapidly and draw fresh air into the root zone after each watering event. This increased oxygen availability between feeds directly supports more vigorous root development and faster overall plant growth compared to pure coco.
