Description

BioBizz Worm Humus 40 Litre is a premium worm castings (vermicompost) soil amendment that we have been supplying to UK organic growers since 2017. Produced by passing organic matter through the digestive systems of earthworms, worm castings are one of the most biologically rich and nutritionally complete organic growing materials available — packed with beneficial microorganisms, plant-available humic substances, slow-release nutrients and the humus matrix that improves soil structure, water retention and nutrient cycling simultaneously. BioBizz Worm Humus is a core component of the BioBizz organic growing philosophy, used to enrich growing media and sustain the biological ecosystem that drives organic crop performance.

What Worm Castings Do for Soil Biology and Plant Nutrition

Worm castings are not simply composted organic matter — they are a living material. As organic matter passes through the earthworm gut, it is transformed by digestive enzymes and the worm’s gut microbiome into a stable humus compound with a unique biological and chemical profile. The castings contain a diverse consortium of beneficial bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes that, when introduced to the growing medium, establish a biologically active root zone capable of mineralising organic nutrients, solubilising phosphorus and suppressing pathogenic organisms through competitive exclusion. The humic and fulvic acid content improves cation exchange capacity, water retention and soil aggregation. The slow-release NPK profile — typically 1–1–1 with trace elements — provides a gentle, sustained baseline nutrition that supplements targeted liquid feeding programmes without risk of burn or excess.

Application Rates and Programme Integration

Incorporate BioBizz Worm Humus into growing media at 10–20% by volume when building soil mixes, or top-dress established containers at 1–2cm depth every 4–6 weeks during the growing cycle. For a complete BioBizz organic growing programme, blend with BioBizz All-Mix or Plagron Bat Mix as a base substrate and pair with BioBizz Bio-Grow and BioBizz Bio-Bloom liquid nutrients. Compatible with mycorrhizal inoculants — apply DYNOMYCO or Mykos at transplanting for maximum biological synergy.
