Description
The Anti-Syphon Valve with half-inch MBSP Threaded Straight-Through connection is a critical safety fitting for any irrigation system where the pump sits below or at the same level as the growing containers. It prevents the siphon effect that can cause uncontrolled draining of the feed reservoir through the irrigation lines when the pump switches off, allowing flow in one direction only and breaking the hydraulic seal the moment the pump stops.
Syphoning is one of the most common causes of over-watering in timer-controlled irrigation systems. When a pump switches off and no anti-syphon protection is fitted, the weight of water in elevated irrigation lines can create enough negative pressure to continue drawing water from the reservoir after the pump cycle ends. In extreme cases this can result in significant uncontrolled flooding. An anti-syphon valve prevents this entirely.
The half-inch male BSP threaded connection is the standard thread size used on most submersible pump outlets, making this valve a direct-fit solution for the majority of common grow room pumps. The straight-through configuration means it installs in-line without directional restriction. Manufactured from chemical-resistant materials suitable for continuous exposure to nutrient solutions. Available at The Horticulture Company alongside a full range of irrigation fittings, manifolds, pumps, and dripper system components.
