Description
Aptus Regulator is a unique silicon and potassium silicate biostimulant that fundamentally strengthens plant cell wall structure and enhances tolerance to environmental stresses throughout the entire growth cycle. Silicon is one of the most abundant elements in soil and plays a critical role in plant physiology that many nutrient programmes overlook. Aptus has made silicon bioavailability the central function of Regulator, delivering it in a form and at a concentration that produces measurable results in plant strength, stress resistance, and ultimately yield quality.
The Role of Silicon in Plant Health
Silicon is deposited in plant cell walls as silica, forming a physical barrier that reinforces structural integrity and reduces susceptibility to mechanical damage, insect feeding, and pathogen penetration. Plants with high silicon deposition have thicker, more rigid stems that support heavier bud loads without staking. Their leaves are less prone to damage from spider mites and other leaf-feeding pests. Their epidermal layers resist fungal penetration more effectively, reducing the risk of powdery mildew and Botrytis under challenging environmental conditions. Beyond structural benefits, silicon improves drought tolerance by reducing water loss through the leaf surface and buffers against nutrient toxicity, moderating the uptake of excess elements. Aptus Regulator has been a core part of our nutrient recommendations at The Horticulture Company since we started carrying the Aptus range.
How to Use Aptus Regulator
Aptus Regulator is compatible with all growing media and nutrient systems. Add it to your nutrient solution from the seedling stage right through to two weeks before harvest. The standard dosage is 0.5–1ml per litre, added first to water before other nutrients. Allow Regulator to dissolve fully before adding other nutrient components. Note that silicon raises solution pH — check and adjust pH after all nutrients and additives have been added rather than before. Regulator works in soil, coco, clay pebbles, and hydroponic systems. In recirculating systems, monitor pH carefully as silicon addition can cause gradual pH drift. This simple addition pays for itself many times over through improved structural strength, stress resilience, and consistent growing performance across every cycle.
