Description
No Mercy CO₂ Tabs are a passive carbon dioxide generation product that we have been supplying to UK indoor growers since 2017 for elevating CO₂ levels in enclosed grow rooms and tents. Plants use CO₂ as the primary carbon source for photosynthesis — the process that converts light energy into the sugars that drive all growth. Ambient outdoor CO₂ concentration is approximately 420 ppm; plants can utilise CO₂ up to 1,200–1,500 ppm before seeing diminishing returns. In a sealed or semi-sealed grow room, CO₂ enrichment to 800–1,200 ppm can increase photosynthetic rate and consequently growth speed and yield by 20–30% compared to ambient air at the same light intensity.
How CO₂ Tabs Work and Where They Fit in CO₂ Supplementation
No Mercy CO₂ Tabs generate carbon dioxide through a controlled chemical reaction when exposed to humidity in the grow room environment. The tabs release CO₂ gradually over their operational life, providing a low-cost and simple passive CO₂ enrichment approach that requires no gas bottles, regulators, timers or electrical connections. This passive approach is best suited to smaller enclosed grow tents where the limited airspace means a modest CO₂ output can meaningfully raise local concentration, and where the complexity and cost of bottled CO₂ or fermentation bag systems would be disproportionate. For larger grow rooms or where precise, controllable CO₂ enrichment is required, bottled CO₂ with a regulator and timer provides more consistent results — but for the hobbyist grower seeking a straightforward CO₂ boost in a sealed tent, the tabs offer a practical and cost-effective solution.
Application and Best Use Guidance
Place No Mercy CO₂ Tabs above the canopy in the grow room — CO₂ is denser than air and will settle downward through the canopy to the leaf surface zone where uptake occurs. Replace as directed when the tabs are exhausted. For best results, use in a reasonably well-sealed environment with extraction fans running on a timer rather than continuously — continuous extraction will remove CO₂ as fast as it is generated. Ensure adequate light intensity to utilise the elevated CO₂ — photosynthesis is co-limited by both CO₂ and light, and CO₂ enrichment only improves growth when light is not the limiting factor. Pair with a quality LED grow light at the recommended intensity for your plant canopy area.
