Description
Plant Magic Magne-Cal+ is a professional calcium and magnesium supplement formulated by Plant Magic to correct deficiencies and maintain optimal levels of these critical secondary macronutrients throughout the vegetative and early flowering stages. Calcium and magnesium are essential to fundamental plant processes — calcium builds and maintains cell wall integrity and activates numerous enzyme systems, while magnesium is the central atom of the chlorophyll molecule and plays a key role in ATP (energy) production and sugar transport. Deficiency of either element causes rapid, visible deterioration in plant health and productivity.
When Magne-Cal+ Is Needed
Calcium and magnesium deficiencies are common in indoor growing because many of the practices that improve plant performance also increase the risk of shortfall. Reverse osmosis water removes virtually all dissolved minerals including calcium and magnesium. Soft UK tap water in northern regions contains low natural levels of both. Coco coir substrate has a natural affinity for calcium through its cation exchange capacity, meaning fresh coco absorbs calcium from your nutrient solution before it reaches plant roots. High-intensity lighting and fast-growing genetics also increase calcium and magnesium demand beyond what standard base nutrients may supply. Plant Magic Magne-Cal+ addresses all these situations directly, providing highly available calcium and magnesium in a formulation that is rapidly absorbed and immediately active in plant physiology. We recommend Magne-Cal+ as a standard addition to any coco or soft-water growing programme at The Horticulture Company.
Dosage and Application
Add Plant Magic Magne-Cal+ at 1–2ml per litre of nutrient solution throughout the vegetative and early flowering stages. Add it to water first before other nutrients, giving it time to dissolve before pH-sensitive components are introduced. It is compatible with all Plant Magic products and with nutrients from other leading brands including CANNA, Plagron, and Advanced Nutrients. For coco growing, use at the higher end of the dosage range for the first two to three weeks on fresh substrate to saturate the medium’s cation exchange capacity before reducing to maintenance dosing.
