Daylight grow lights replicate the broad, balanced spectrum of natural sunlight — delivering the full range of wavelengths from UV through to far-red that plants have evolved to use most efficiently. Unlike single-spectrum lights that optimise for one growth phase, daylight systems support healthy development across the entire plant lifecycle. We stock a selection of daylight-spectrum grow lights and systems for UK indoor growers who value spectral completeness.
What Makes Daylight Spectrum Effective?
Natural sunlight has a continuous spectrum from approximately 380nm (violet) to 740nm (far-red) with a broad peak in the green-yellow range (500–600nm). Plants have evolved photoreceptors — including chlorophylls a and b, phytochromes and cryptochromes — that respond to these wavelengths collectively. A daylight-spectrum light activates all these receptors simultaneously, producing a more complete and natural photosynthetic response than narrow-spectrum LEDs or HPS alone.
The high colour rendering index (CRI >90) of daylight systems also makes it easier to identify nutrient deficiencies, pest damage and early disease symptoms under the light — a practical advantage over the blinding pink of HPS environments.
Daylight Lights for Propagation and Veg
Daylight-spectrum systems are particularly effective for vegetative growth and propagation, where the blue-dominant content promotes compact structure and the green wavelengths improve deep canopy penetration. Many LED manufacturers now include supplemental green and white channels in their full-spectrum LEDs specifically to capture this benefit.
We have been helping UK growers navigate spectrum choices since 2017. Browse our daylight grow light range below and contact our team for advice on matching spectrum to your specific growing goals.
