Description
CX Horticulture Regen-A-Root is a specialised root recovery and regeneration supplement that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for rescuing damaged, diseased or waterlogged root systems. Developed by CX Horticulture’s nutrient science team, Regen-A-Root delivers a targeted blend of root-stimulating compounds, amino acids and antifungal agents that actively promote new root generation while creating an environment hostile to the Pythium and Fusarium pathogens that typically colonise damaged root tissue. In our experience, Regen-A-Root has saved many crops that would otherwise have been lost to root rot.
When to Use CX Regen-A-Root
Root problems in hydroponics present rapidly and often dramatically — plants wilting despite correct EC, brown or slimed roots, foul-smelling reservoir water and collapsed growth are the classic signs of Pythium infection or anaerobic root damage. The earlier Regen-A-Root is deployed after these symptoms appear, the better the recovery outcomes. The formulation works on two simultaneous fronts: the root-stimulating compounds promote new white root growth from healthy tissue above the damaged zone, while the antifungal and antibacterial components directly suppress further pathogen spread. Combined with improved reservoir oxygenation and a temporary reduction in solution EC — to reduce osmotic stress on compromised roots — Regen-A-Root gives damaged plants a genuine opportunity to regenerate a functional root system before the crop is lost.
Application Protocol for Root Recovery
At first signs of root problems, reduce nutrient solution EC to 50–60% of normal, increase reservoir aeration aggressively and add Regen-A-Root at the recommended rate (typically 1–2 ml per litre). Change the reservoir completely with fresh, aerated nutrient solution and clean all system components with a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution before refilling. Continue Regen-A-Root for 2–3 weeks until new white root growth is clearly visible. Then gradually return EC to normal operational levels. Pair with a Hailea air pump for maximum reservoir oxygenation and a reservoir heater to maintain solution temperature in the optimal 18–20°C range throughout the recovery period.
