Description

IEC 10A Female to Male 5m x 1.0mm Cable is a standard IEC C13/C14 power extension cable that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 for extending the reach of grow light ballasts, LED drivers and other grow room equipment fitted with IEC C13 connectors. IEC cables are used as the standard power connection on most modern grow room lighting — HPS ballasts, LED grow light drivers and digital dimmers all typically use the C13 socket format. A quality 5-metre extension provides the flexibility to locate timers, controllers or power outlets away from the light fixture without the strain on the original cable that results from stretching a too-short factory lead.

When a 5-Metre IEC Extension Is Needed

Grow tent layouts frequently create a challenge for power cable routing — the timer or contactor may be mounted on the wall outside the tent, while the ballast or LED driver hangs inside above the light, up to 2–3 metres from the tent entry point. A standard factory IEC lead is typically 1.5–2m — too short to reach comfortably. The 5-metre length provides generous cable slack for clean, untangled routing through the tent ventilation port and across the wall to the timer, without creating the heat build-up that occurs when cable is coiled tightly under load. The 1.0mm² conductor is correctly rated for continuous 10A (2,400W) loads — adequate for individual ballast and LED driver connections within standard UK grow room equipment power ratings.

Compatibility and Electrical Safety

Compatible with all equipment fitted with IEC C13 sockets — including HPS and CMH ballasts, LED grow light power supplies and fan speed controllers. Always verify that the equipment’s power draw does not exceed the cable’s 10A (2,400W) rating. Do not exceed the cable’s rated current capacity by connecting multiple items in series.
