PowerGrow RO System 500 L/Day is a high-capacity reverse osmosis water purification unit that we have been supplying to UK commercial and hobbyist growers since 2017. Producing up to 500 litres of purified water per day, this RO system removes chlorine, chloramine, dissolved salts, heavy metals and other contaminants from tap water, delivering a clean, low-EC starting point for nutrient mixing. For growers who demand total control over their feed programme, reverse osmosis water is the gold standard — and the 500 L/day capacity makes this unit suitable for medium to large grow rooms and commercial operations.

Why Reverse Osmosis Water Matters for Hydroponic Growing

UK tap water is typically hard, with EC values ranging from 0.3 to over 0.8 mS/cm depending on region. This pre-existing mineral load — primarily calcium, magnesium and bicarbonates — occupies EC headroom in your nutrient solution, limits the precision of your feed programme and can interfere with the uptake of specific nutrients at key growth stages. RO water starts at near-zero EC (typically 0.01–0.05 mS/cm), giving you a blank canvas onto which you can build a nutrient profile precisely calibrated for your crop. The PowerGrow 500 L/day system uses multi-stage filtration — sediment pre-filter, carbon block filter and RO membrane — to remove 95–99% of dissolved solids in a single pass. A pressure pump ensures consistent membrane performance regardless of incoming water pressure.

Installation, Maintenance and Running Costs

The system connects to a standard mains cold water supply via a push-fit fitting and produces purified water at a consistent rate of up to 500 litres per day. A waste water line (typically a 3:1 waste-to-pure ratio) runs to drain. Replacement filter cartridges are available separately — sediment and carbon pre-filters should be replaced every 6 months; the RO membrane every 12–18 months depending on feed water quality. After installation, re-mineralise RO water with VitaLink CalMag or a dedicated RO mineral supplement to restore calcium and magnesium before adding base nutrients.
