Description
SENTINEL CONTROL SWITCH 8 WAY (26 AMP) is the professional multi-circuit switching unit for large-scale UK growing operations, providing eight individually rated output circuits controlled from a single input for simultaneous management of up to eight high-current growing equipment circuits. We have been supplying Sentinel control equipment to UK growers since 2017 because properly engineered switching infrastructure is the foundation of safe, reliable large-scale growing operations — and the 26-amp total rating provides substantial headroom for demanding multi-lamp setups.
Why the 26-Amp Rating Matters for Large Grows
Running eight 600W ballasts, each drawing approximately 3 amps at full load, represents a combined circuit demand of around 24 amps — close to or exceeding the rating of many domestic circuit controllers. The Sentinel Control Switch 8 Way is rated at 26 amps total with individually rated output channels, providing a safety margin above the combined load of eight 600W circuits. Each output channel is separately protected — a fault on one circuit does not disable the other seven, which is critical in a commercial operation where losing all lamps simultaneously would cause serious production problems. A single timer signal controls all eight contactor outputs simultaneously for consistent photoperiod management across the entire lighting array.
Installation Requirements
The Sentinel 8 Way must be supplied from a correctly rated circuit breaker on a properly assessed supply circuit. In the UK, any electrical installation in a growing environment must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations where applicable and current IET Wiring Regulations. Consult a qualified electrician before installing high-current multi-lamp switching equipment. Position the unit outside the growing environment where it is accessible for inspection and away from the high humidity of an active grow room.
Pair the Sentinel Control Switch 8 Way with eight Lumatek 600W digital ballasts, eight Adjust-A-Wings reflectors, and a dual-channel thermostat for a complete, professionally managed large-scale growing infrastructure.
