The genius of the AQUAvalve lies in its elegant simplicity. When the tray beneath the plant pot is empty, the valve float drops to its lowest position and opens the inlet, allowing gravity-fed nutrient solution from the elevated reservoir to fill the tray to the set level — typically 20–25mm. When the solution reaches this level, the float rises and closes the inlet, stopping further delivery. As the plant absorbs solution from the tray and through the substrate, the level drops, the float descends, and the valve opens again. This self-regulating wet-dry cycle operates continuously without any electrical input, and the alternating wet and dry phases in the root zone replicate the natural moisture rhythm that promotes vigorous root development while preventing the constant saturation that causes overwatering and root disease.
