Gold Label Coco Perlite 70/30 is a ready-blended growing substrate combining 70% premium-grade buffered coco coir with 30% coarse horticultural perlite, pre-mixed at the Gold Label facility to deliver a consistent, repeatable air-to-water ratio in every bag. It eliminates the need for growers to measure and blend coco and perlite separately — a common source of inconsistency in DIY substrate preparation — and ensures the ratio is uniform throughout the bag rather than stratified by density differences between the two materials.
The 70/30 ratio is widely regarded as the optimum balance for high-performance coco-based growing. The coco fraction provides excellent water retention and the natural CEC that gives coco its characteristic buffering ability. The perlite fraction opens the structure, increases the volume of air-filled pores, and prevents compaction over time. Gold Label sources their coco from Sri Lankan plantations and applies rigorous washing, buffering, and quality-control before bagging. Starting EC is below 1.0 mS/cm and pH sits in the correct 5.5-6.5 window.
Works best paired with a dedicated coco nutrient such as Canna Coco A&B, Shogun Samurai Coco, or VitaLink Coco MAX, run at the appropriate coco-specific calcium-magnesium supplemented dose. Available at The Horticulture Company alongside the full Gold Label growing media range.
