Canna 60/40 Coco and Clay Pebble Mix 50 Litre is a pre-blended hybrid substrate combining 60% Canna Coco Professional Plus with 40% premium-grade expanded clay pebbles, creating a growing medium that bridges the gap between pure coco and full hydroponic inert media. The blend delivers the excellent nutrient availability and buffering properties of coco with the superior drainage, aeration, and root-zone oxygenation of expanded clay in a single ready-to-use substrate.
The addition of clay pebbles at 40% significantly increases the air-filled porosity of the mix compared to pure coco, creating larger macropore channels through which oxygen can diffuse to root surfaces even when the substrate is at full water-holding capacity. Root-zone oxygen is one of the most commonly overlooked limiting factors in coco growing — roots that are oxygen-deprived even briefly show measurable reductions in active nutrient uptake. The hybrid blend reduces this risk substantially compared to dense, fine-fibre coco used alone.
The coco fraction is Canna Coco Professional Plus — pre-washed, pre-buffered, with Trichoderma for root disease protection. This substrate performs particularly well in pot sizes of 11 litres and above. Pair with Canna Coco A&B and Rhizotonic.
