Description

DutchPro Leaf Green is a concentrated iron and trace element supplement from DutchPro, formulated to rapidly correct iron deficiency and related chlorosis conditions that present as yellowing of young growth in intensively grown plants. We have been recommending DutchPro supplemental products to UK growers since 2017, and Leaf Green is the targeted solution when early deficiency signs appear and a rapid, effective response is needed.

Iron Deficiency in Hydroponics: Causes and Correction

Iron deficiency is one of the most visually striking nutritional problems in indoor growing — presenting as bright yellowing of new growth and growing tips while older leaves remain green. Despite often being present in adequate quantities in the nutrient solution, iron can become unavailable at the root zone level due to pH being too high (above 6.5 in coco and hydro), excess phosphorus in the solution competing for uptake, or the presence of bicarbonate ions in hard water that interact with iron and precipitate it out of solution before it can be absorbed.

DutchPro Leaf Green provides iron in an EDDHA chelated form — the chelate type that remains stable and available to plants across a wider pH range than standard EDTA-chelated iron, making it particularly effective in situations where pH management alone has not resolved the deficiency. The additional trace mineral package supports rapid recovery and restoration of normal green colouration within seven to ten days of correct application.

Application and Prevention

Apply Leaf Green at the manufacturer’s recommended dose as a root drench when iron deficiency symptoms first appear. For faster response, it can also be used as a dilute foliar spray to deliver iron directly through the leaf surface. Once symptoms resolve, review your pH management and water quality as root causes — sustained Leaf Green use without addressing the underlying cause will not achieve permanent resolution.
