Sold by the metre so you can purchase exactly the length you need, jack chain offers a robust, adjustable alternative to rope ratchets when fixed-height suspension or extremely heavy loads require the reliability of steel rather than woven cord.

When to Use Jack Chain in a Grow Room

Rope ratchets are the most convenient hanging solution for grow lights in standard setups where height adjustments are needed regularly throughout the growing cycle. Jack chain becomes the preferred choice in situations where equipment is set at a fixed height for long periods, where loads approach or exceed the rated capacity of standard rope ratchets, or where equipment such as large extraction fans and carbon filter assemblies benefits from the rigidity of chain suspension rather than the slight movement that rope allows. The interlinked loop design of jack chain allows height adjustment at any link point — simply connect the S-hook or carabiner at the link that gives the desired hanging height. Zinc plating provides corrosion resistance in the humid grow room environment, maintaining strength and appearance over extended service life.

Installation, Load Ratings and Accessories

Attach to tent crossbars or ceiling anchors using appropriately rated S-hooks or carabiners. Ensure the anchor point (tent pole, beam, joist) is rated for the total suspended load. Jack chain is sold per metre — measure the required drop distance and add 20–30cm for connection loops at each end. For equipment requiring frequent height adjustment, combine with rope ratchets at one end and jack chain at the fixed end. Always verify the load rating of all chain, hooks and anchor points before hanging expensive or heavy equipment.
