Mykos 2.2lb (1kg) is a concentrated pure mycorrhizal inoculant containing Rhizophagus irregularis — the single most researched and most widely planted mycorrhizal species in the world — that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017. Unlike multi-species mycorrhizal products, Mykos concentrates its entire active content in R. irregularis at a very high spore density, delivering a powerful, reliable inoculation wherever it is applied. Mykos is the preferred mycorrhizal product of many professional growers and commercial nurseries precisely because of this focused, high-efficacy approach.

Why Rhizophagus irregularis Is the Gold Standard Mycorrhizal Species

Glomus intraradices — now reclassified as Rhizophagus irregularis — colonises the roots of over 90% of all known plant species, making it by far the most universally effective mycorrhizal inoculant for use across diverse crop types. The extensive research base on this species documents consistent, repeatable benefits: increased phosphorus and zinc uptake (both elements that are poorly mobile in soil and whose availability is dramatically increased by mycorrhizal hyphae extending into micropores roots cannot reach), improved drought tolerance through hyphal water transport, reduced transplant stress and measurably improved yields per unit of fertiliser input. Mykos delivers R. irregularis at a high propagule count per gram, ensuring rapid and reliable colonisation from the first contact between inoculant and root tissue.

Application Methods and Compatibility

Apply Mykos by dusting directly onto moist roots at transplanting, pre-mixing into the top layer of growing medium at the root zone, or sprinkling into transplant holes before inserting the root ball. For seeds, apply to the seed surface or pre-mix into the germination medium. Use once per crop — established mycorrhizal networks are self-sustaining. Do not apply alongside hydrogen peroxide, chemical fungicides or very high-phosphorus fertilisers at transplanting, as these inhibit mycorrhizal establishment. Compatible with organic and mineral nutrient programmes.
