Xtreme Gardening produces two of the most highly regarded biological plant products available — Mykos and Azos. These products harness the power of naturally occurring beneficial microorganisms to dramatically improve root development, nitrogen availability and overall plant health without the use of synthetic chemicals. Xtreme Gardening’s commitment to producing concentrated, genuinely effective biological products has earned them a global following among growers who understand that soil biology is as important as nutrient chemistry.
Mykos — Pure Mycorrhizal Fungi
Mykos is a concentrated Glomus intraradices mycorrhizal inoculant — one of the most extensively researched mycorrhizal species for use in horticultural crops. Applied directly to the root zone at planting or transplanting, Mykos rapidly colonises root tips and extends a vast web of fungal hyphae through the surrounding growing medium. This dramatically expands the plant’s effective root surface area, improving its ability to access water and nutrients — particularly phosphorus, which is notoriously immobile in most growing substrates.
Mykos is available in granular and powder form, and both can be applied directly to roots during transplanting. For best results, ensure direct contact between the Mykos granules and the root surface. Mykos is compatible with organic soils, coco coir and amended substrates. It is not effective in purely inert hydroponic systems where no substrate surface is present for colonisation.
Azos — Nitrogen-Fixing Bacteria
Azos contains Azospirillum brasilense — a beneficial soil bacterium that fixes atmospheric nitrogen and converts it into plant-available ammonium directly at the root surface. This free nitrogen fixation can meaningfully reduce the amount of nitrogen fertiliser needed during vegetative growth. Azos also produces indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), a natural auxin that stimulates root hair development and root branching. Used together, Mykos and Azos create a remarkably robust biological root environment.
