Description

Omega Matrix Lighting Controller is a centralised LED lighting management system that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 for managing multiple Omega LED fixtures from a single control unit. Rather than adjusting each fixture’s dimmer individually, the Matrix controller connects to all compatible Omega LEDs in the grow room and applies uniform or zone-based dimming, scheduling and sunrise/sunset programmes across the entire lighting array simultaneously — saving time, ensuring consistency across the canopy and enabling advanced lighting strategies that would be impractical to implement manually fixture by fixture.

Why Centralised Lighting Control Improves Commercial Growing Outcomes

In a grow room running multiple LED fixtures, manual individual dimming creates an inherent risk of inconsistency — a slight dimming variation between fixtures produces uneven PPFD across the canopy, leading to differential growth rates and uneven flowering across the plants below each fixture. The Omega Matrix controller eliminates this variation by applying the same dimming signal simultaneously to all connected fixtures, guaranteeing uniform light intensity across the full canopy regardless of how many fixtures are installed. The sunrise and sunset simulation feature ramps intensity gradually at lights-on and lights-off, reducing the abrupt light transition stress that can cause plant responses including stem elongation and stomatal shock when lights switch instantly from 0% to 100%. For commercial operations with multiple grow rooms, the Matrix controller also provides a convenient single point of adjustment when conducting lighting experiments or responding to seasonal changes in heat load.

Compatible Fixtures, Installation and Connectivity

The Omega Matrix controller is compatible with the Omega Infinity 3.0 Pro and other Omega LED fixtures with a compatible dimming input. Connect fixtures via the supplied control cable daisy-chain system. Programme schedules and dimming levels via the front panel interface. For temperature-responsive dimming — automatically reducing light output if grow room temperature exceeds a set threshold — pair the Matrix controller with an environmental controller that provides a 0–10V or compatible output signal. Hang fixtures using 135kg rope ratchets for heavy commercial LED units.
