How the Oxypot Basket Supports Explosive DWC Growth

In a deep water culture system, the plant is held in a net pot basket that suspends the stem just above the surface of the nutrient solution while the roots grow down freely into the aerated solution below. The basket is filled with a pH-neutral, inert growing medium — typically clay pebbles or Grodan Rockwool — that anchors the plant and wicks moisture upward to the stem base and early root system while the main root mass develops in the highly oxygenated solution beneath. DWC is one of the fastest-growing hydroponic methods available because the roots have continuous, unobstructed access to both dissolved oxygen and nutrient solution simultaneously — the combination of maximum oxygenation and maximum nutrient availability drives vegetative growth rates that consistently exceed what is achievable in soil or coco at equivalent nutrient inputs. The Oxypot Basket is sized to work precisely with the Oxypot reservoir lid, sitting securely in the cut-out without movement while roots develop through the basket base into the solution below.

How to Use the Oxypot Basket

Fill the basket with pre-rinsed clay pebbles or a combination of Rockwool and clay pebbles. If using Rockwool, pre-soak in pH-adjusted Formulex solution before positioning in the basket. Transplant your rooted cutting or seedling into the basket, ensuring the root base is in contact with the substrate. Position in the Oxypot lid. Fill the reservoir with nutrient solution to the correct level, ensuring the base of the basket is just touching or close to the solution surface. Run the air pump continuously to maintain dissolved oxygen. Monitor EC and pH daily during establishment and adjust as required.
