Why Deep Water Culture Produces Exceptional Growth Rates

Deep Water Culture is one of the most productive hydroponic growing methods available precisely because it removes virtually every limitation on nutrient and water delivery to the root system. Roots suspended in fully aerated, correctly pH-balanced nutrient solution at the optimal temperature have continuous, unrestricted access to dissolved nutrients and dissolved oxygen simultaneously — conditions that allow the plant to uptake nutrients and fuel growth at the maximum rate its genetic and physiological capacity allows. The OxyPot’s 19-litre tank volume provides sufficient solution depth for root systems to develop extensively without restriction, while the included air pump and air stone maintain dissolved oxygen at saturation throughout the volume. The opaque tank construction prevents algae growth that would compromise solution quality and root health in transparent containers.

Setup, Nutrient Management, and Growing in the OxyPot

Fill the OxyPot tank with pH-adjusted nutrient solution at the target EC for your plant’s growth stage, leaving adequate air gap below the net pot for roots to develop in the air space before reaching the solution level. Position the plant in the net pot with a small rockwool or coco propagation cube bridging from the net pot to the solution surface — roots will establish in the humid air space and then grow down into the solution. Monitor and maintain pH (5.5–6.0 for DWC) and EC daily in the early stages, less frequently once the plant is established and consuming solution at a predictable rate. Top up with pH-adjusted water as solution is consumed, and perform full reservoir changes every seven to ten days to maintain fresh, balanced nutrient profiles.
