Description

Plant Support Netting 1.2m is a horizontally installed training net positioned above the growing canopy to create a SCROG (Screen of Green) structure that guides branches into a wide, even distribution across the full footprint of your growing space. By weaving or threading branches through the net as they grow, growers create a flat canopy where every bud site receives comparable light intensity — dramatically improving light utilisation efficiency and yield potential compared to the natural vertical growth habit of most indoor crops.

The Science and Practice of SCROG Training

In an untrained plant growing vertically, the top colas receive intense, direct light from the primary lamp while lower branches are progressively shaded by the canopy above them. A SCROG net intercepts branches before they grow through the net and redirects them horizontally. Over several weeks of vegetative growth, these redirected branches develop new growth shoots from each node — multiplying the number of bud sites and spreading them across the canopy at a consistent height. When the plant switches to flower, every redirected shoot becomes a primary flowering site exposed to direct light. Instead of a few large top colas and many shaded lower buds, a fully SCROG-trained plant produces many medium to large flowers across the entire net surface — a far more efficient use of the available light footprint. The 1.2m width of this netting is dimensioned for standard 1.2m x 1.2m growing tents — the most common grow tent size in the UK. Install at 20–30cm above the growing medium at the start of the vegetative phase and begin weaving branches through the net from an early stage. At The Horticulture Company we recommend SCROG training to every grower who wants to maximise their yield per square metre of growing area.

Installation and Material

Attach to tent frame bars or growing room structural supports at the corners and edges to create a firm, even surface. The net material is soft enough not to damage plant tissue but firm enough to provide effective support throughout the flowering phase. Reusable across multiple growing cycles with appropriate cleaning between uses.
