Description
Plant Support Netting 2.0m is a wide-mesh, high-strength support net for training and supporting plants growing in gardens, greenhouses, and grow rooms — providing the structural framework for climbing plants and a horizontal trellis surface for ScrOG-style canopy management. We have been recommending plant support netting to UK growers since 2017 as an inexpensive and highly effective tool for maximising yield from grow room lighting through better canopy structure and light distribution.
How Plant Support Netting Improves Growing Results
Plant support netting provides several different benefits depending on how it is deployed. For climbing and vining plants — tomatoes, cucumbers, runner beans — a vertical net gives the plant structure to attach its tendrils and supports the weight of foliage and fruit that would otherwise cause branches to break or plants to lodge. For indoor growing with a ScrOG approach, a horizontal net stretched above the canopy creates the training surface for weaving shoots to produce a flat, even growing plane that maximises light utilisation across the full footprint beneath the grow light. In both applications, the netting distributes the structural load across many support points rather than concentrating it at a few ties, which is gentler on plant tissue and more stable under the weight of heavy flower and fruit. At 2.0 metres width, this netting is suited to large tent footprints and greenhouse growing applications where narrower materials would require multiple overlapping pieces.
How to Use Plant Support Netting Effectively
For vertical support, attach the netting to a frame or tent poles at both top and bottom under light tension. For horizontal ScrOG use, stretch the netting across support bars positioned at your desired screen height — typically 20–30cm above pot level — and secure at all four corners with clips or ties. Train shoots through the netting squares beginning as they emerge, weaving horizontal growth under the netting and guiding vertical shoots through adjacent squares. The mesh spacing should be appropriate to the plant — wider mesh for large plants with thick stems, finer mesh for dense bushy plants where support is needed at closer intervals.
