Description
Winter Frost is a specialist late-flowering additive formulated to trigger enhanced resin and trichome production during the final weeks of the bloom cycle. We have been recommending Winter Frost to UK cultivators since 2017 as a targeted finisher that helps maximise the quality and visual appeal of flower at harvest.
The Science Behind Winter Frost
Plants in nature respond to seasonal environmental cues — dropping temperatures, shorter days, and reduced humidity — by accelerating trichome production as a protective stress response. Winter Frost mimics these signals biochemically, stimulating the metabolic pathways responsible for resin synthesis during the critical final two to three weeks before harvest. The result is denser trichome coverage, richer terpene profiles and flowers with a more pronounced, frosty appearance.
The product is formulated with a blend of cold-stress and ripening precursors that work alongside your existing late-bloom and flushing programme. It does not add significant EC or nutrient load, making it suitable for use during the light-feed phase of your end-of-cycle programme when you are reducing nutrient concentration in preparation for harvest.
Application and Harvest Timing
Introduce Winter Frost from week six or seven of flowering, depending on your strain’s total flower time. Continue through to the start of your flush week. Apply at the manufacturer’s recommended rate and monitor your plants’ trichome development under magnification — you should observe an increase in trichome density and opacity from cloudy to amber as the plants finish ripening.
Combine with a quality flushing agent in the final week to clear residual mineral salts before harvest. Winter Frost works best when the rest of your late-bloom environment is optimised: keep temperatures at 18–22°C, reduce relative humidity to 40–45% to minimise mould risk and encourage resin thickening, and maintain strong air circulation throughout your canopy.
