Light Suspension and Height Adjustment
Correct light height is one of the most important variables in indoor growing. Different growth stages require different hanging heights to deliver the optimal PPFD at canopy level — LED lights are typically hung 40–80cm above the canopy depending on their output and dimming level, while HPS systems usually operate at 30–60cm. As your canopy grows taller, lights must be raised regularly to maintain the correct intensity without causing heat or light stress.
Quality rope ratchets make this adjustment quick and precise. A good ratchet hanger holds its position securely under load, adjusts smoothly in both directions with one hand, and maintains its rated load capacity reliably over hundreds of adjustment cycles. We recommend pairing rope ratchets with a Lux or PAR meter to measure actual canopy PPFD after each adjustment, ensuring your lighting intensity matches your plants’ current stage and needs.
Carbon Filter and Fan Hanging
Carbon filters and inline fans are typically the heaviest items suspended inside a grow tent, often combined to 5–15kg or more. Use dedicated hanging straps rated to exceed the combined weight of your filter and fan, with additional safety carabiners or loops as a secondary retention measure. Never hang heavy filtration equipment from tent crossbars alone without additional support — always spread the load across multiple mounting points.
