50MM STARFISH AIR STONE is the compact multi-arm diffuser that combines the Starfish design’s distributed bubble output with the smaller 50mm footprint suitable for standard DWC buckets, propagation reservoirs, and smaller recirculating system chambers. Starfish Design vs Standard Disc Stones

A standard 50mm disc air stone concentrates all bubble output from a single point at the centre of the reservoir base, producing a central column of rising bubbles but limited lateral distribution in the surrounding nutrient solution. The 50mm Starfish’s radial arm configuration distributes bubble output across multiple points, creating a wider area of oxygenation from the same 4mm airline connection and similar pump output. In a standard Oxypot or 25-litre DWC bucket, this means the nutrient solution is oxygenated more evenly across the full volume, including the edges of the root mass where oxygen depletion from root respiration can reduce DO levels below the central zone. The result is more consistent white root development across the entire root ball.

Sizing and Pump Compatibility

The 50mm Starfish is well-matched to medium-output air pumps including the Enviro ET80 and similar compact single-outlet units. For maximum output from the Starfish, the pump should deliver at least 1.5–2 litres per minute of airflow — below this threshold the radial arms may not all inflate and produce output simultaneously. Connect via standard 4mm airline. Clean every four to six weeks with citric acid to maintain fine bubble quality. Replace when cleaning no longer restores consistent, fine bubble output from all arms.
