Description
Airstone Golf Ball is a spherical porous airstone designed for effective 360-degree bubble distribution in hydroponic reservoirs, DWC buckets, and nutrient storage tanks. We have been supplying airstones in various formats to UK hydroponic growers since 2017, and the golf ball format provides a unique all-directional oxygenation pattern that standard cylindrical and disc airstones cannot replicate.
360-Degree Bubble Distribution for Thorough Reservoir Oxygenation
Unlike disc airstones that produce bubbles only from one flat surface and cylindrical airstones that produce bubbles primarily from the sides, the golf ball airstone produces fine bubbles from its entire spherical surface simultaneously — creating a three-dimensional bubble curtain that rises through the reservoir water in all directions. This 360-degree distribution provides more thorough oxygenation of the total reservoir volume than directionally limited airstone formats, particularly in larger reservoirs or bucket systems where a flat disc or short cylinder may not distribute bubbles effectively throughout the full depth and width of the water volume.
The fine pore structure of the golf ball airstone produces smaller, more numerous bubbles than large-orifice air releases, maximising the gas-liquid contact surface area and improving dissolved oxygen transfer efficiency. At the same air pump output, a quality porous airstone adds significantly more dissolved oxygen to the reservoir than an equivalent unbroken air release.
Use and Maintenance
Connect to a suitable air pump via standard airline tubing and position at the base of your reservoir or DWC bucket for the maximum bubble column height effect. Clean periodically with dilute citric acid solution to remove mineral scale deposits that gradually block the pore structure. Replace when visible blockage significantly reduces bubble output despite cleaning.
Pairs with Hailea or similar air pumps, airline tubing, and air manifolds for complete reservoir oxygenation. Suitable for all reservoir sizes from single DWC buckets to multi-hundred-litre central reservoirs.
