Description
Biobizz pH Down 1 Litre is an organic phosphoric acid-based pH adjustment solution used to lower the pH of nutrient solutions to the optimum range for plant nutrient uptake. Maintaining correct pH is one of the most fundamental and impactful practices in plant growing — at incorrect pH levels, nutrients that are present in your solution become chemically unavailable to plants, producing deficiency symptoms even when the nutrient concentrations in the solution appear correct. Biobizz pH Down is formulated from food-grade phosphoric acid and is fully compatible with organic growing programmes.
Understanding pH and Why It Matters
pH is the measure of hydrogen ion concentration in your nutrient solution — a scale from 0 (strongly acidic) to 14 (strongly alkaline), with 7 being neutral. Plants access different nutrients most efficiently at different points on this scale. Nitrogen is generally available across a wide pH range. Phosphorus becomes increasingly unavailable below pH 5.5 and above pH 7.0. Iron, manganese, and zinc availability drops sharply as pH rises above 7.0 in most growing systems. This is why pH management is non-negotiable. The target pH range differs by growing medium: 5.8–6.2 for coco and hydroponic systems, 6.0–7.0 for soil. Biobizz pH Down lowers pH when your solution tests too high. Start with small additions — a few drops per litre — and test pH again before making further adjustments. pH adjustment is a small-step process. Add too much at once and you overshoot in the other direction. We teach proper pH measurement and adjustment technique to every new grower who visits The Horticulture Company. It is the single most impactful practice for improving grow outcomes across all experience levels.
Organic Compatibility and Practical Storage
Biobizz pH Down uses phosphoric acid derived from food-grade sources and is fully listed for use in certified organic production. It is compatible with all Biobizz organic nutrients and with other organic growing systems. Store in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight. The 1-litre bottle is sufficient for many months of pH management in a small to medium growing setup. Dispose of correctly in accordance with local regulations for acidic liquids.
