Clonex Mist Concentrate 1 Litre is a professional propagation spray that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 as a companion product to Clonex rooting gel. Designed to be diluted and applied as a foliar mist to freshly taken cuttings during the propagation phase, Clonex Mist delivers a blend of nutrients, vitamins and cytokinins directly through the leaf surface — maintaining cutting health, reducing transplant stress and supporting the early stages of root initiation before the cutting has established a functional root system of its own.

Why Cuttings Need Foliar Support During Propagation

When a cutting is taken from a mother plant, it loses its connection to the root system that was supplying water and nutrients. Until new roots develop — typically 7–14 days after taking the cutting — the cutting must sustain itself through the small internal nutrient reserves in its stem and leaf tissue, supplemented by whatever it can absorb through the leaf surface. This period of nutritional stress, combined with the hormonal disruption of the rooting initiation process, is when cuttings are most vulnerable to wilting, pathogen attack and rooting failure. Clonex Mist addresses this directly by supplying a foliar-available nutrient and cytokinin dose that maintains leaf turgor and cell division activity in the emerging callus tissue at the cut base. The concentrate format allows the grower to mix precisely the volume needed, avoiding waste and maintaining product freshness.

Dilution, Application and Programme Integration

Dilute Clonex Mist Concentrate at 1:9 (1 part concentrate to 9 parts water) to make the ready-to-use spray. Apply as a fine mist to cutting foliage once or twice daily during propagation, avoiding saturation. Use from the day of taking cuttings until roots are emerging from propagation plugs. Compatible with all propagation media — Root !T plugs, Jiffy-7 peat plugs and rockwool cubes. Pair with Clonex rooting gel applied to the cut end, a Root !T or Jiffy heat mat for bottom heat and a propagator lid for humidity maintenance.
