Description
Crazy Hills Kickoff Microbial 200g is a highly concentrated, dry biological inoculant from the Crazy Hills growing range that delivers a complex community of beneficial bacteria and fungi directly to the root zone at the start of a growing cycle. Kickoff Microbial establishes the biological foundation of a productive growing environment — populating the root zone and growing medium with the microorganisms that drive nutrient cycling, suppress root pathogens, and produce growth-promoting compounds that improve plant performance throughout the cycle.
The Science of Microbial Inoculants in Horticulture
Modern research in plant science has confirmed what experienced organic growers have known for generations: the community of microorganisms around plant roots has a profound influence on plant health and productivity. Beneficial bacteria colonise the root surface and produce plant growth regulators including gibberellins and cytokinins. Mycorrhizal fungi extend the effective root volume by forming networks that explore the growing medium far beyond the reach of the roots themselves. Together, these organisms fix atmospheric nitrogen, solubilise bound phosphorus, suppress pathogenic microorganisms through competitive exclusion and the production of antifungal compounds, and build the soil structure that makes the physical properties of growing media most favourable to root development. Kickoff Microbial concentrates a carefully selected consortium of these beneficial organisms in a dry, shelf-stable format that activates rapidly when introduced to a moist growing environment. At The Horticulture Company we have been advocates for biological growing approaches since the evidence base for their effectiveness became compelling. Kickoff Microbial represents excellent value for the biological diversity it delivers per gram.
How to Use Kickoff Microbial
Mix the recommended quantity of Kickoff Microbial powder directly into your growing medium before planting, or dissolve in water and apply as a root drench at transplant. The microorganisms activate on contact with moisture and begin colonising the root zone within 24 to 48 hours. Avoid using alongside products containing hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, or other disinfectants that would eliminate the microbial culture before it can establish. Compatible with all organic nutrient programmes and with standard coco and soil growing media.
