Description
Formulex 1 Litre is a complete, one-part liquid nutrient solution specifically formulated for seedlings, cuttings, and young plants that require gentle, balanced nutrition during the earliest and most vulnerable stages of their development. We have been recommending Formulex to UK growers since 2017 as the ideal starter nutrient that simplifies the feeding process for propagation and early veg without the risk of overfeeding damage that can occur with more concentrated two-part formulas.
Why Formulex Is Perfect for Young Plants and Cuttings
Young plants and freshly rooted cuttings have delicate, developing root systems that are highly sensitive to high nutrient concentrations. Feeding seedlings with a full-strength vegetative nutrient can cause tip burn, root damage, and stunted growth — the opposite of the effect you are trying to achieve. Formulex is formulated by Growth Technology with a nutrient profile and concentration specifically matched to the needs of young plants, providing all essential macro and micronutrients in a form immediately available for uptake without the risk of salt accumulation or tip burn. The one-part liquid format means there is no mixing of Part A and Part B, no risk of concentration errors, and no possibility of component precipitation — simply dilute to the recommended rate and feed. Formulex is suitable for use in Rockwool, coco coir, NFT systems, and all hydroponic media, making it genuinely versatile across all growing setups from propagation through to transplant.
How to Use Formulex for Seedlings and Cuttings
Dilute Formulex at 5 ml per litre of water for seedlings and newly rooted cuttings. As plants develop their first true leaves and establish a healthy root system, gradually increase the concentration to 10 ml per litre. Maintain a solution pH of 5.8–6.2 for optimal uptake across all hydroponic and coco growing media. In Rockwool, pre-soak cubes in Formulex solution at 5 ml/l before planting to establish the correct pH and base nutrient level within the cube. Continue using Formulex until plants are established and vigorous enough to transition to a full vegetative nutrient programme. Monitor EC to ensure it stays within the 0.8–1.4 mS/cm range appropriate for young plant development.
