pH UP is an essential pH adjustment solution used by UK growers to raise the pH of nutrient solutions and irrigation water to the correct target range. Why pH Management Is Critical for Plant Health

Every nutrient you feed your plants is only available within a specific pH window. If your reservoir or growing medium drifts too acidic, key elements like calcium, magnesium and phosphorus become locked out regardless of how concentrated your nutrient solution is. pH UP — a potassium hydroxide-based solution — allows you to correct low pH readings quickly and precisely, restoring optimal nutrient uptake conditions within minutes.

For hydroponic and coco systems, the ideal pH target is 5.8–6.2. In soil, you are aiming for 6.0–6.8. Using pH UP alongside a reliable pH meter and pH DOWN lets you bracket the correct range with precision, rather than guessing or over-correcting in one direction. Always add nutrients to your water before adjusting pH, and always add pH UP or DOWN dropwise while stirring to avoid overshooting.

How to Use pH UP Safely and Accurately

pH UP is a strong alkaline solution and should be handled with care. Avoid skin and eye contact, and store away from children and acids. Use a clean pipette or dosing syringe to add small amounts to your reservoir or feed water, checking with a calibrated pH meter after each addition. A few millilitres per litre is typically sufficient; the exact dose depends on your starting water hardness and current pH reading.

For best results, calibrate your pH meter regularly using pH 4.0 and 7.0 calibration buffer solutions. Pair pH UP with a quality pH DOWN for complete pH management, and keep both products on hand throughout your grow.
