Growers Ark Coco Bloom Hard Water 10 Litre is a professional coco coir bloom-stage base nutrient specifically formulated for use with hard tap water that we have been supplying to UK coco growers since 2017. Growers Ark nutrients are designed by experienced UK growers with a detailed understanding of real-world growing conditions in Britain, and the Hard Water formulation specifically addresses the elevated calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate content of hard UK tap water that causes nutritional imbalances when standard nutrients are used without adjustment.

Coco Bloom Nutrition in Hard Water Areas

Coco coir growing in hard water regions presents a dual challenge: the substrate’s cation exchange capacity sequesters calcium and magnesium from the nutrient solution, while the tap water itself contributes a pre-existing calcium and magnesium load that raises total EC before any nutrients are added. A standard bloom nutrient used in hard water conditions over-supplies calcium and magnesium (combined substrate + tap water + nutrient contributions), risks bicarbonate pH buffering that works against the 5.8–6.2 target range for coco, and delivers excess EC from dissolved mineral salts that occupy headroom needed for phosphorus and potassium at peak flowering. Growers Ark Coco Bloom Hard Water is calibrated around these realities — lower calcium and magnesium input to account for tap water background, adjusted potassium to account for coco binding, and a buffering system that works with hard water chemistry rather than against it.

Feed Rates, EC Management and Programme Integration

Test tap water EC before mixing and subtract from target reservoir EC to determine nutrient input required. Use at 3–5 ml per litre during peak flowering, adjusting to maintain total EC of 1.6–2.2 mS/cm. Maintain pH 5.8–6.2 in coco. Pair with SHOGUN CalMag at 1 ml per litre if plants show signs of calcium or magnesium deficiency during mid-flower, and add SHOGUN PK Warrior 9/18 from week 4 of flowering as a bloom booster supplement.
