PHONIC TRAP 315 X 10M

Description

Phonic Trap 315mm x 10m is a professional acoustic ducting lining that we have been supplying to UK indoor growers since 2017 for dramatically reducing the noise transmitted through grow room extraction ductwork. Phonic Trap is a multi-layer composite material — acoustic foam bonded to a reflective outer layer — that lines the inside of metal spiral ductwork, absorbing turbulence and fan noise before it exits the duct into the surrounding space. For growers where discretion is important, a 10-metre roll provides enough material to line the entire extraction run from fan to exhaust point in most grow room installations.

How Phonic Trap Reduces Grow Room Extraction Noise

Extraction system noise has two main transmission paths: airborne sound travelling through the duct air column and structural vibration transmitted through the duct walls into the surrounding structure. Silencers placed inline on the duct address airborne sound. Phonic Trap, applied to the duct’s inner surface, addresses both — the acoustic foam absorbs sound energy from the air column while the mass-loaded outer layer damps structural vibration transmission through the duct wall. The 315mm width is sized to fit inside standard 315mm spiral ducting, and can be cut to fit smaller diameters (250mm, 200mm) by trimming the overlap. A 10-metre roll is sufficient for most single-fan extraction runs including the critical section between the fan and the first silencer where noise levels are highest.

Installation Method and System Combination

Insert Phonic Trap into new ductwork before assembly or retrofit into existing runs by carefully feeding the rolled material through the duct and securing at both ends. For maximum noise reduction, use in combination with both a CAN Silencer on the exhaust side and a silencer on the intake side of the fan. The combination of inline silencers and Phonic Trap-lined ductwork represents the most effective noise attenuation approach available for grow room extraction systems short of purpose-built acoustic enclosures.
