Description
Rectangular Reservoir 90 Litre is a robust, purpose-made nutrient solution storage tank that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for use as a main reservoir in drip, flood and drain, NFT and recirculating DWC systems. The 90-litre rectangular format is sized for medium to large grow room installations — providing sufficient reservoir volume to sustain multi-plant systems for extended periods between top-ups while the rectangular shape makes efficient use of grow room floor space alongside square plant containers and tent structures.
Why Reservoir Volume and Design Matter in Hydroponic Systems
Reservoir volume directly determines how long a system can run between top-ups and how stable nutrient concentration and pH remain over time. In a small reservoir, plant uptake of water and nutrients between top-ups causes rapid EC and pH drift — the grower must check and adjust more frequently, and the time between plant need and nutrient availability is compressed. A 90-litre reservoir provides a significant buffer against rapid EC and pH swing, maintaining more stable growing conditions between maintenance intervals. The rectangular format allows the reservoir to sit flat against a wall or beneath a growing bench, with a low profile that keeps the weight (when full, 90 litres of water weighs 90kg) at floor level where it is safe and accessible. An opaque lid prevents light penetration that would encourage algae growth in the nutrient solution — a common and preventable problem in clear or translucent containers.
Connections, Compatible Systems and Pump Sizing
The reservoir accepts standard bulkhead fittings for inlet, outlet and drain connections. Size your submersible pump to the system requirements — for a standard 4–8 pot drip system, a DS1000 1200 L/hr pump is appropriate; for larger flood and drain systems, size up to an HX1500 or HX2500 accordingly. Pair with a Hailea air pump and air stones to maintain dissolved oxygen, and a reservoir thermometer to monitor solution temperature between water changes.
