Description

SB Plant Invigorator Concentrate is a multi-action foliar treatment that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 for controlling a broad spectrum of common grow room pests while simultaneously feeding the plant through the leaf surface. Unlike conventional pesticides that rely on a single toxic active, SB Plant Invigorator uses a physical mode of action — a surfactant-based formulation that disrupts the waxy cuticle and respiratory function of soft-bodied insects on contact — meaning pests cannot develop resistance to it. It controls whitefly, aphids, spider mites, mealybugs, scale insects and psyllids effectively, and is approved for use on food crops and in organic growing systems.

How SB Plant Invigorator Controls Pests Without Chemical Resistance

Chemical insecticides work by targeting specific biochemical pathways in pest neurology or metabolism. Over time, populations with genetic resistance to these pathways survive and reproduce, leading to the resistance build-up that makes many conventional pesticides ineffective against established pest populations. SB Plant Invigorator works physically — the surfactant system in the formulation coats the pest’s body, disrupts the waxy layer that prevents desiccation, and blocks the spiracles (breathing pores) through which insects respire. There is no biochemical target that resistance can evolve around. This makes SB Plant Invigorator uniquely valuable as both a treatment and preventive tool that remains effective however many times it is applied. The foliar feeding component — a blend of nitrogen, trace elements and plant extracts — also provides a visible leaf-health benefit alongside the pest control action.

Dilution, Application and Safety

Dilute the concentrate at 1:10 to 1:20 (50–100 ml per litre of water) depending on pest pressure. Apply as a fine mist to all plant surfaces including stem bases and leaf undersides where pests shelter. Apply during lights-off or low-light conditions. Reapply every 5–7 days until the infestation is controlled, then fortnightly for prevention. SB Plant Invigorator is compatible with most beneficial insect programmes — check specific predator species tolerance before combining. Safe on edible crops to day of harvest when used as directed. Pair with Dr Hydro Spider Mite Spray or Thrips Spray for a rotation strategy in high-pressure environments.
