AutoPot 16mm (13mm Internal) Blue Hosepipe is the genuine AutoPot supply hose that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 for connecting gravity-fed header tanks and water butts to AutoPot system manifolds and AQUAvalve assemblies. The 16mm OD / 13mm ID specification is the standard bore for AutoPot main supply lines — sized to deliver adequate flow rates from a gravity head to supply multiple AQUAvalve trays simultaneously without pressure restriction. The blue colouring makes it easily identifiable in grow room plumbing layouts where multiple hose sizes and types are often present.

Why Correct Hosepipe Sizing and Genuine Parts Matter in AutoPot Systems

AutoPot systems operate entirely on gravity — there is no pump pressure to compensate for restricted flow. The 16mm bore of the main supply line is calculated to deliver sufficient flow rate to fill multiple trays simultaneously from a header tank at standard gravity head pressure (0.5–2m of head). Using undersized hosepipe restricts this gravity flow, causing slow tray fill times or inadequate supply pressure to open AQUAvalves reliably. Genuine AutoPot hosepipe is also UV-stabilised for outdoor and greenhouse use where sunlight exposure would degrade standard irrigation hose rapidly, and manufactured from a food-safe polymer appropriate for nutrient solution contact. Replacing any component of the supply line with non-specification alternatives introduces the risk of flow restriction, incompatible fitting connections and premature degradation.

Installation, Cutting and System Compatibility

Cut to required lengths with a sharp blade for clean, square ends that seat properly in barbed fittings. Push firmly onto barbed AutoPot connectors until the hose shoulder reaches the fitting collar — a partial engagement allows the hose to pull free under flow pressure. Compatible with all AutoPot manifold fittings, 9mm tee connectors and AQUAvalve 5 inlet barbs via appropriate reducers where required. Sold per metre — measure your run from header tank to furthest AQUAvalve and add 20% for routing allowance. Pair with a 25-litre AutoPot gravity tank and complete AQUAvalve 5 assemblies for a full passive AutoPot installation.
