Description
AutoPot Silicone for 5mm AQUAvalve 5 Bottom Float is a genuine AutoPot replacement part that we have been supplying to UK growers since 2017 for maintaining the reliable operation of AQUAvalve 5 assemblies in AutoPot passive irrigation systems. The silicone float seal is the critical sealing component in the AQUAvalve 5 mechanism — it provides the watertight seat against which the float presses to close the valve and stop nutrient solution flowing into the tray when the set level is reached. Over time, silicone seals can compress, degrade or collect mineral deposits that prevent a complete seal, causing the valve to drip or fail to hold the correct tray level.
Maintaining AQUAvalve Performance with Genuine Replacement Parts
The AQUAvalve is the heart of the AutoPot passive growing system — its reliability is what allows AutoPot to operate without pumps, timers or electricity. A valve that fails to seal properly either allows the tray to overfill (risking waterlogged roots) or fails to refill (causing the medium to dry out and plants to wilt). Genuine AutoPot silicone replacement seals are manufactured to the precise dimensions and durometer (hardness) of the original component — ensuring that when the float seats against the silicone, it creates the same reliable seal as the factory-installed component. Non-genuine replacement seals of incorrect hardness or dimensions may not seat properly, reintroducing the valve failure the replacement was intended to fix. We recommend inspecting and replacing AQUAvalve silicone seals at least once per growing season as a preventive maintenance measure on active systems.
Installation and Maintenance Schedule
To replace the bottom float silicone, disassemble the AQUAvalve 5 according to the AutoPot service guide — typically by unscrewing the valve body and accessing the float assembly. Remove the old silicone seal and press the new one into the valve seat firmly and evenly. Reassemble and test by filling the header tank and observing whether the tray fills to the correct level and the valve closes cleanly. Clean the entire valve assembly with warm water and citric acid solution to remove mineral scale at the same time. Keep a spare silicone seal in your grow room consumables kit alongside spare AQUAvalve 5 units for immediate replacement if a valve fails mid-crop.
