Description
Hailea HX1500 Water Pump is a robust, high-flow submersible pump that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for use in large recirculating systems, flood and drain setups, NFT installations and reservoir transfer applications. With a maximum flow rate of 1,500 litres per hour and a head height suitable for lifting nutrient solution to elevated drip systems and NFT channels, the HX1500 is a versatile workhorse pump suited to grow rooms with significant irrigation demands or large reservoir volumes requiring continuous circulation.
Where the Hailea HX1500 Excels in Hydroponic Systems
The HX1500 is designed for medium to large-scale hydroponic installations where smaller pumps are underpowered. In flood and drain systems with large grow trays, a pump that fills the tray quickly and completely is essential — slow fill times reduce the effective wet period and create uneven moisture distribution in the growing medium. At 1,500 L/hr, the HX1500 floods even substantial tray volumes in minutes. In NFT systems, a consistent, reliable flow rate is critical as NFT channels depend on a continuous thin film of nutrient solution — pump failure or flow interruption even briefly can stress or kill plants. The HX1500’s robust impeller and sealed motor are designed for continuous operation in submersed conditions, and the large-bore outlet (20–25mm) minimises flow restriction at high delivery rates.
Installation, Maintenance and Sizing Guidance
Install submerged in your reservoir with the foam inlet filter fitted at all times to protect the impeller from particulate debris. Clean the foam filter every 1–2 weeks by rinsing in clean water. Match outlet pipe diameter to the pump’s outlet bore for maximum efficiency — reducing to smaller diameter pipework significantly reduces effective flow rate and increases motor load. Do not run dry. For automated systems, connect via a heavy-duty digital timer rated for the pump’s power draw. Pair with a DS1000 low-level pump for reservoir drain-down and a digital timer for automated flood and drain cycles.
