Description
DS1000 Low Level Pump 1200 L/Hr is a compact, submersible grow room pump that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for use in irrigation systems, NFT channels, flood and drain setups and reservoir recirculation. The low-profile design allows it to operate effectively in shallow-sump tanks and trays where standard pumps would not be fully submerged — a key advantage in NFT setups and low-volume recirculating systems. With a 1,200 litre-per-hour flow rate, the DS1000 is well-suited to medium-sized drip systems, small NFT benches and reservoir circulation in setups up to approximately 200 litres.
Where the DS1000 Low Level Pump Excels
Standard submersible pumps require a minimum water depth of 10–15cm to operate without running dry — a limitation that restricts their use in shallow sumps. The DS1000’s low-level inlet design allows it to draw water from as little as 3–4cm depth, making it ideal for NFT channel sumps, low-profile flood and drain tables and the shallow reservoirs used in compact grow tents. Despite its compact footprint, the 1,200 L/hr flow rate delivers sufficient head pressure to supply drip stakes across a typical 1–1.2m grow tent via a 20mm distribution manifold. The pump is designed for continuous operation and features an easy-access foam filter that prevents particulate matter from entering the impeller — important when using organic amendments or rooting media in the reservoir.
Installation and Maintenance
Install submerged in the reservoir or sump with the outlet pointing toward the distribution line. Use the foam pre-filter supplied — clean every 1–2 weeks by rinsing in clean water to maintain maximum flow rate. Connect to your timer for automated irrigation cycles. Do not run dry even briefly as this can damage the impeller. Compatible with 13mm and 20mm barbed fittings. Pair with a digital timer, 25mm tee fittings and appropriate dripper stakes to build a complete, automated drip irrigation system.
