Hailea V60 Air Pump 60 L/min is a high-output, dual-outlet air pump that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for oxygenating large nutrient reservoirs, DWC (deep water culture) systems and aquaponic setups. Maintaining adequate dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in your nutrient solution is critical for preventing root rot, supporting aerobic beneficial bacteria and ensuring vigorous plant uptake of water and nutrients. The Hailea V60’s 60 litre-per-minute output is sufficient to oxygenate reservoirs of 200–400 litres effectively when paired with correctly sized air stones and distribution manifolds.

Why Dissolved Oxygen Levels Define Root Health in DWC

In deep water culture and large recirculating reservoirs, roots are in continuous or near-continuous contact with nutrient solution. Without aggressive aeration, dissolved oxygen quickly depletes — particularly at higher solution temperatures — and the anaerobic conditions that result provide an ideal environment for Pythium water mould, the principal root pathogen in hydroponic systems. Maintaining DO levels above 7–8 mg/L requires powerful, reliable aeration. The Hailea V60 delivers continuous, high-volume airflow through dual outlets that can supply multiple air stones or an air distribution manifold simultaneously, ensuring uniform oxygenation throughout the entire reservoir volume. The electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism is energy-efficient, runs quietly and is designed for continuous 24-hour operation over years of use.

Setup, Maintenance and Compatible Accessories

Connect the V60’s dual outlets to air tubing leading to air stones positioned on the reservoir floor. Use non-return valves on each outlet line to prevent back-siphon in the event of power interruption. Position the pump above reservoir water level wherever possible as an additional back-siphon precaution. Air stones should be replaced every 3–6 months as they calcify and restrict airflow over time. Compatible with all standard 4mm and 6mm air tubing and air stone formats. Pair with a Hailea HC-series reservoir chiller to maintain optimal dissolved oxygen at higher ambient temperatures.
