Aquaburst 1L is a professional-grade wetting agent and soil surfactant that breaks down the surface tension of water, allowing nutrients and moisture to penetrate growing media evenly and efficiently. We have been recommending Aquaburst to UK growers since 2017 as an essential tool for improving water uptake in coco, soil, and peat-based substrates — especially early in the grow when dry media can cause uneven saturation and nutrient hot spots.

Why Wetting Agents Like Aquaburst Are So Important

Water is naturally cohesive — its molecules are attracted to each other, creating surface tension that causes water to bead and run off dry or hydrophobic growing media rather than soaking in evenly. This is a serious problem in coco coir, which can become partially hydrophobic when it dries out, and in peat-based mixes that can channel water through dry cracks rather than distributing it uniformly through the root zone. Aquaburst disrupts this surface tension, reducing the contact angle of water droplets and allowing liquid to spread freely through the substrate. The result is even saturation, consistent nutrient distribution, and the elimination of dry patches that would otherwise lead to localised nutrient deficiencies and root stress. Aquaburst is based on a food-safe surfactant chemistry that is gentle on roots and compatible with all nutrient programmes.

How to Use Aquaburst in Your Grow

Add 0.2–0.5 ml per litre of nutrient solution throughout your grow. It can be used from the very first watering to establish even moisture distribution in fresh substrate, through to flush stages to ensure cleaning agents penetrate fully. When working with very dry or hydrophobic media, increase to 1 ml per litre for the first watering, then reduce back to the standard rate. Aquaburst is fully compatible with organic and synthetic nutrient programmes and will not interfere with pH or EC readings. It is particularly valuable in large containers and deep beds where channelling is most likely. Store in a cool, dark location and keep the lid tightly sealed to maintain product integrity.
