Description
Spidermite SMC+ Ready Mixed Spray 750ml is a professional, contact-action pesticide formulation designed specifically for the rapid knockdown and control of spider mites — one of the most damaging and persistent pests in indoor growing environments. This ready-to-use 750ml spray bottle contains a pre-diluted, optimised SMC+ solution that you apply directly to affected plants without any measuring or mixing. Open the bottle, spray, and start eliminating spider mites immediately.
Why Spider Mites Are a Serious Threat to Indoor Crops
Tetranychus urticae — the two-spotted spider mite — is the primary target of SMC+. Spider mites reproduce explosively in warm, dry indoor growing environments. A single female can produce 20 eggs per day under optimal conditions. Within two to three weeks, a small undetected infestation can become a colony that causes catastrophic yield losses through the disruption of photosynthesis and physical damage to leaf cells. Early detection is critical. Spider mites typically establish on the underside of leaves, leaving characteristic stippling patterns of tiny white or yellow dots on the upper leaf surface as they feed. Fine webbing between leaves and stems is a sign of advanced infestation. At the first sign of either symptom, treatment with SMC+ should begin immediately. At The Horticulture Company we have stocked and recommended SMC+ since 2017 because its performance against spider mites is genuinely reliable when used correctly.
How to Apply and Integrate into Your IPM Programme
Shake the bottle well before use. Spray affected plants thoroughly, paying particular attention to the underside of all leaves where spider mites live and feed. Repeat applications every three to five days for two to three cycles to break the mite reproductive cycle. A single application knocks back adult populations but does not eliminate eggs. Subsequent applications target the newly hatched nymphs before they reach reproductive maturity. Maintain lower grow room temperatures below 25°C, increase relative humidity where possible, and introduce airflow under the canopy to create conditions less favourable to spider mite reproduction. Inspect plants weekly throughout the growing cycle — particularly on new growth and the underside of lower canopy leaves — to catch infestations early.
