Description
Square Saucer for 18 Litre Pot is a purpose-sized drip tray that we have been supplying to UK indoor growers since 2017, dimensioned to sit flush beneath 18-litre square growing containers. A correctly fitting saucer is an essential component of a tidy, manageable growing setup — it contains nutrient solution runoff from each watering event, keeps the grow room floor dry and clean, and provides a collection point from which runoff EC can be tested to monitor substrate salt accumulation throughout the growing cycle.
Runoff Testing as a Growing Management Tool
In run-to-waste coco and soil growing, observing runoff EC relative to the applied nutrient solution EC gives the grower a direct window into substrate health. When input EC is 2.0 mS/cm and runoff EC consistently reads 3.5+ mS/cm, the growing medium has accumulated mineral salts from previous irrigations — a situation that progressively increases the osmotic stress on roots and can cause nutrient lockout even when applied EC appears correct. A correctly sized saucer makes it easy to collect a small runoff sample after each watering, test it with an EC pen in 30 seconds, and decide whether a plain-water flush watering is needed to bring substrate EC back into range. This simple practice, enabled by a properly fitting saucer that contains the runoff rather than letting it spread across the floor, is one of the most effective and underused management tools in coco growing. The 18-litre pot saucer fits standard 18-litre square containers including Wilma-compatible pots.
Maintenance and Compatible Containers
Empty saucers after each watering, wipe clean every 1–2 weeks and sterilise between crop cycles. Do not allow standing water to remain in saucers. Pair with an EC meter for runoff testing and use alongside Growers Ark Flush It for targeted flushing when runoff EC indicates salt accumulation in the growing medium.
