Description
CANNA CANNAZYM is a professional enzyme supplement formulated by CANNA to break down dead root material in the growing medium, converting old root cells into simple sugars and amino acids that plant roots and beneficial microbes can reabsorb as nutrition. CANNAZYM prevents the accumulation of dead organic matter that creates a habitat for harmful pathogens, reduces oxygen availability in the root zone, and can significantly impair plant health and growth rate when allowed to build up unchecked over a growing cycle.
The Enzyme Mechanism and Why It Matters
Root cells have a natural lifespan. As plants grow and root systems develop, older root cells die and are shed — a continuous process throughout the growing cycle. In soil and coco environments, these dead cells accumulate around the root zone over time. In natural soil ecosystems, a diverse community of organisms breaks down this organic matter efficiently. In the simplified, sterile growing environments of indoor cultivation, this decomposition process is much slower and less complete. CANNAZYM restores rapid enzyme-driven decomposition of dead root material in any growing medium. The specific enzyme blend in CANNAZYM is selected to break down the cell wall components and complex organic molecules of dead root tissue into simple, reabsorbable forms. This keeps the root zone clean, maximises oxygen availability, and eliminates the nutrient and habitat that root pathogens require to establish and spread. CANNA’s three decades of growing research underpin the formulation. CANNAZYM is one of the most rigorously developed enzyme products in the market. At The Horticulture Company it has been a core part of our growing recommendations since we opened in 2017.
Dosage, Timing, and System Compatibility
Use CANNAZYM from the second week of growing through to harvest at 25ml per 10 litres of nutrient solution. It is compatible with all growing media — soil, coco, clay pebbles, and hydroponic systems — and with all CANNA base nutrients and additives. In recirculating systems, add to the reservoir at each water change. Enzyme activity is optimal between 15°C and 35°C at pH 4.5–7.5.
