D-Block 1 Litre is a professional water treatment and algae inhibitor formulated to prevent the growth of algae and biofilm in hydroponic reservoirs, irrigation systems, and recirculating growing setups. Algae establishment in nutrient reservoirs and irrigation infrastructure is one of the most persistent maintenance challenges in hydroponic growing — once established, algae competes with plants for nutrients, clogs irrigation fittings, creates conditions favourable to pathogenic bacteria and water moulds, and dramatically increases the maintenance burden of the entire growing system. D-Block prevents all of this from occurring.

The Problem with Algae in Hydroponic Systems

Algae are photosynthetic organisms that require light, water, and nutrients to grow — exactly the conditions that hydroponic reservoirs and transparent or translucent irrigation components provide. A small amount of light reaching a nutrient-rich reservoir is sufficient for algae to establish and proliferate rapidly. Once established, algae colonies produce complex polysaccharide biofilms that coat reservoir walls, pipework, and dripper outlets — creating resistance to flow, blocking emitters, and providing a physical structure in which pathogenic bacteria and water moulds (particularly Pythium) can shelter from normal cleaning and sanitisation protocols. D-Block prevents algae establishment by treating the water in a way that inhibits algae growth without affecting plant health or nutrient solution chemistry. Regular use throughout the growing cycle maintains reservoirs and irrigation components in a clean, algae-free condition that requires dramatically less maintenance than untreated systems. Application and System Compatibility

Add D-Block to your nutrient reservoir at the recommended dosage per litre at each reservoir change. D-Block is compatible with standard hydroponic nutrients and does not affect pH or EC to a degree that requires compensation. Not compatible with beneficial microbial inoculants — use as part of a conventional (non-biological) system management approach.
